Progress is permanently going on. Over the past few years, an incredible amount of smart technologies have been invented. Another such innovation was the electric bike. Once upon a time, we could not have thought that it was possible to invent something more modern to replace the existing bicycle. But it turned out that it is possible.

In the future, more attention will be paid to the inventions helping the rider when pedaling. Already, there are smart assistants (such as Giant’s Smart Assist) that determine the balanced amount of assistance from the motor when pedaling the bike. This allows you to save both the strength of the cyclist and the battery charge of the electric bike.

What special features do e-bikes have?

How does this type of transport work? This bike has an electric motor. It ensures its movement on the surface. The e-bike has several transmission systems: The pedals provide the movement of the cogwheel. The rotation of the pedals themselves is carried out by the principle of the lever. This is forward gear. Then comes the reverse gear, represented by the gear of the rear wheel. These two gears give power to the rear wheel through the chain. All movement of the new generation bicycle is partially or fully carried out thanks to an electric drive capable of adjusting the speed. The speed can be changed using a special regulator in the form of a throttle on the steering wheel.

In Spain, there is a special service based on the principle of sharing economy. Bicing electrico is an easy, practical and sustainable way to get around a famous Spanish travel destination – Barcelona – based on bike-sharing. To access this sharing service, you need to get a special card, which is requested online or at the office and delivered to the address you specified. After activating the card, you can use the e-bike sharing service in Spain.

What new e-bike technologies occur?

Wireless technologies and special mobile applications are the new reality of this industry. The overall expansion of smartphones could not but affect the bicycle industry. Especially electric bikes with electric stuffing. Now, even simple electric bikes support a Bluetooth connection with a proprietary mobile application that allows you to control trip statistics and other system parameters:

  • Battery charge and remaining mileage
  • Satellite track trip
  • Average speed
  • Travel/training time
  • Calories burned

How will electric bikes get smarter?

Obviously, the emergence of additional integrated sensors and the display of parameters from them (sensors of cadence, torque, temperature, etc.) are possible. Intensive technology growth provides for the projection of parameters onto digital sports glasses, individual training programs for the parameters of a cyclist, and integration with other sports services.
Since e-bikes are still frighteningly expensive, built-in alarm systems will be developed to inform the owner of the location of the bike.
